![]() ![]() ![]() Being a dog lover that I am I was reading this book thinking there has to be a happy ending. I didn’t realize it was a book that was fiction and non-fiction at the time that I picked it from Great Graphic Novels for Teens and growing up I don’t recall hearing the true story of Laika. The book plot was very interesting and sad. The data that they received from Laika’s last mission was of little scientific value. Over the years of using Laika she always returned safely to earth but on the last mission it was a one-way trip and she was left in space to die. Laika was taken care of by a lab technician named Yelena. Laika was once a stray puppy that no one wanted until he was brought to the engineer Kovolev who was experiencing with ways to launch a ship into space with a person but instead of using humans he sacrificed the lives of dogs.
